Prostate cancer symptoms, warning signs and treatment

FOX News

Dr. Andre Esteva, medical AI expert and CEO of ArteraAI, tells Fox News Digital the ArteraAI Prostate Test is helping physicians predict prostate cancer and identify optimal treatments within one or two days. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer found in American men. The only type of cancer more common than prostate cancer is skin cancer, according to the American Cancer Society. Symptoms of prostate cancer are usually minimal, or not experienced at all. This common cancer is treatable when caught early, with a near 100% five-year survival rate for cancers that haven't spread beyond the prostate or have only spread to nearby areas, per the American Cancer Society.

Machine Learning (ML) Business Use Cases 2021

#artificialintelligence

As machine learning (ML) technology improves and uses cases grow, more companies are employing ML to optimize their operations through data. As a branch of artificial intelligence (AI), ML is helping companies to make data-based predictions and decisions based at scale. The AES Corporation is a power generation and distribution company. They generate and sell power used for utilities and industrial work. They rely on Google Cloud on their road to making renewable energy more efficient.

SXSW 2021: Virtual events with video games and esports serve as charitable plays during COVID-19 pandemic

USATODAY - Tech Top Stories

During the coronavirus pandemic, video games haven't just been a good pastime, they have been a pastime for good, too. And the charitable good video games could bring may escalate after COVID-19 concerns pass. The ability of video games to help others is just one of the topics at this week's South By Southwest Festival, which takes place virtually through Saturday. Keynote speakers include former President George W. Bush, voting rights advocate Stacey Abrams, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Tinder CEO Jim Lazone, filmmaker Ava DuVernay ("Selma"), Facebook Chief Diversity Officer Maxine Williams, Willie Nelson and Keenan Thompson interviewed by Chance the Rapper. Throat cancer: Signs and symptoms to look out for

FOX News

Experts fear the U.S. will see thousands more cancer deaths in the coming years due to delayed screenings, treatments and trials; Dr. Marc Siegel reacts. Throat cancer is a term that can apply to several different types of cancers that occur in different locations in the head and neck. In 2018, more than 30,000 people in the U.S. received a throat cancer diagnosis of some kind, according to MD Anderson Cancer Center. Both laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancers start in the lower part of the throat. Patients diagnosed with laryngeal cancer mean that the disease was detected in an area affecting the voice box, including the supraglottis, which is located above the vocal cords, the glottis, which contains the vocal cords or the subglottis, which is below the vocal cords, according to the American Cancer Society.

2019 Illuminating Your Data

#artificialintelligence

In today's world Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are buzz words in every industry. Come meet experts in this technology to demystify and understand AI and ML applications in healthcare. We will hear from several industry and community healthcare leaders about how they harnessed this technology to improve patient's lives. While we have made incredible strides in bringing data technology and AI into healthcare, we know that all of our work is for nothing unless patients can access the care they need. In honor of the patients we are helping everyday with our custom data solutions, we are asking for your help in supporting the American Cancer Society's Transportation and Lodging Program to ensure their patients can get to and from the treatment they need.

Identifying Emotional Support in Online Health Communities

Khanpour, Hamed (University of North Texas) | Caragea, Cornelia (Kansas State University) | Biyani, Prakhar (Oath Inc.)

AAAI Conferences

Extracting emotional support in Online Health Communities provides insightful information about patients’ emotional states. Current computational approaches to identifying emotional messages, i.e., messages that contain emotional support, are typically based on a set of handcrafted features. In this paper, we show that high-level and abstract features derived from a combination of convolutional neural networks (CNN) with Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) networks can be successfully employed for emotional message identification and can obviate the need for handcrafted features.

Researchers use artificial intelligence to better detect breast cancer

#artificialintelligence

Health researchers at Houston Methodist Hospital have developed an artificial intelligence application they cite as being 30 times faster than human doctors and 99% accurate in reading and interpreting mammograms. Houston Methodist used the artificial intelligence software to evaluate mammograms and pathology reports of 500 breast cancer patients. The software scanned patient charts, collected diagnostic features and correlated mammogram findings for breast cancer. Clinicians then used the results, like the expression of tumor proteins, to accurately predict each patient's probability of a breast cancer diagnosis, the hospital says. In the U.S., 12.1 million mammograms are performed annually, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

IBM puts Watson to work on cancer with new patient-advisor tool

PCWorld

IBM is developing a new weapon in the battle against cancer that will put Watson to work in a new way. Partnering with the American Cancer Society, IBM is building a virtual advisor that uses machine learning to give patients personalized information and advice. The advisor will begin by looking at the type of cancer the patient is suffering from, the stage of the disease and the treatments administered so far. Using that and other data, it will try to offer care advice and answer patients' questions. Watson's voice recognition and natural language processing will enable users to ask questions and receive audible responses.
